NJE sugar business began in 1995 with the import of our first consignment into Afghanistan from India, where we already had a widespread procurement network and infrastructure from our origination operations. Leveraging these capabilities, we were able to ensure sugar provision to customers close to the point of sale and consumption.
Tea was first introduced in Kenya in 1903 by GWL Caine and was planted in present-day Limuru. Commercialisation of tea started in 1924 and since then the nation became a major producer of black tea. Currently Kenya is ranked third behind China and India in tea production.
